Meet Z and her children who live on Moheshkhali Island, Bangladesh. She was eager to tell us she's a survivor of obstetric fistula, thanks to the surgeons at Hope Foundation for Women & Children of Bangladesh's Hospital. She was proud to say she now works for Hope's medical clinic on her island. Obstetric fistula cause incontinence and other side effects, which often result in abandonment of the woman by her family and a life of misery. Z's smile was radiant as she shared her story. Hope's Hospital in Cox's Bazar is the only fistula repair facility in all of southern Bangladesh.

Dr. Bryan Sohl from Ashland will observe a fistula surgery this week. Our team also learned about the condition at last week's Maternal Health and Fistula conference hosted by HOPE.
